How to Interpret the CD Howe Institute Percentile %

The higher the number (0-100%) the better.

90% means school's EQAO results better than 90% of all other schools with same social-demographics

10% means school's EQAO results worse than 90% of all other schools with the same social-demographics

Scores on the extremes (0-20%) and (80-100%) are good indicators of performance

(higher scores are desirable)

Scores in the middle should be discounted – parents should look to the other measures of quality.
